Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park is located between Normandy and the Pays de la Loire Regions and is spread over four departments: Orne, Sarthe, Mayenne and Manche. It covers an area of 257,000 hectares and includes 134 communes and 14 gateway towns. This classified territory has a population of approximately 90,000. Its emblem is a stag against a green background, symbolising the forests that cover more than 20% of its area.
The classification of the Normandy-Maine Park was adopted by decree of the Prime Minister on 23 October 1975. It then became the 14th Regional Nature Park in France. There are currently 58 today. Its Regional Nature Park label was then renewed in 1996 and again in 2008.
